Currently, bloggers who use 3rd party blogging tools can't define absolute URLs in their posts, so images don't render in planets. Igor mentioned there is a "base url" setting in Atom that can configured. Allen will investigate.
More details:
editor on blogs.sun.com strips initial http://blogs.sun.com from URLs as a performance enhancement. Other RSS feeds seem to handle this find an prefix relative URLs with blogs.sun.com so they work, but planets.sun.com sees they are relative and inappropriately prefixes them with http://planets.sun.com and you get broken links all over the place. I and others have hacked around this using blog.sun.com instead of blogs so it doesn't get stripped off, but planets is broken and needs to fix this rather than every blogger having to hack around it
This may end up being something that needs a fix in either the blogs or planets source. Perhaps both.
Here is another example. At http://planets.sun.com/ux/group/blogs/ scroll down to Hamburg World Usability Day and click on 'Acetylcholinesterase' or 'sometimes not'.

More info from bugster 6806422:
A blog posting on blogs.sun.com (a) http://blogs.sun.com/xvmblog/entry/what_is_sun_xvm_virtual
Another blog posting wich links to the blog posting above (b) http://blogs.sun.com/mprove/entry/sun_vdi_3_is_in
When (b) is displayed on planets.sun.com the link to (a) is broken: (c) http://planets.sun.com/VDI/group/Blogs/ (and some items down)
Instead of still http://blogs.sun.com/xvmblog/entry/what_is_sun_xvm_virtual
the link is http://planets.sun.com/xvmblog/entry/what_is_sun_xvm_virtual which is 404.
