This project has now moved to http://dsc.kenai.com The idea of Project OpenSolaris Dynamic Service Containers ("DSC") is to use standard OpenSolaris / Solaris Sub-Systems / Technologies to implement a light weight dynamic "pull-based" (think cloud oriented) provisioning solution. Zones to encapsulate service instances. SMF to start / stop, and control the provisioning and associated zone payloads. mysql as a registry (state)/ repository to track status, payloads etc.

OpenDI is a framework for normalized communications between enterprise tools. The tool categories that are initially in scope include configuration management databases, provisioning/service management tools, monitoring, reporting, policy, and workflow. In addition, services for persistence, task management, security, and protocol bridging are included.

why does VDC have a vm template uri?
I think the vm_templates should enable hierarchy. This would allow templates to be organized similar to a folder tree. So the vm_templates may return one URI (the root of the template tree), but have . . .

why does VDC have a vm template uri?
I've been working on a data model based on the cloud API, and was wondering about the vm_templates. The vm_templates URI attribute of the VDC seems a bit clunky. This might just be the way I'm lookin . . .

This may apply to other operations, but I was looking at Create VM, and had a couple questions: 1) Just curious. The example URI format in the Create VM documentation on the wiki (http://kenai.com/pr . . .

Proposal: Adding Location Affinity to the Sun Cloud API
I generally think this is a good idea. Not sure if "datacenter" is the right level of abstraction, but definitely some sort of geo support. This may help solve regulatory and compliance issues in som . . .

should the "uri" be in the database?
I'm trying to create a data model for private clouds based on the API for the Sun cloud. One of the issues that I'm facing is that the uri field conflicts with the generation of RESTful services with . . .
