Has anyone found a workaround for the BTrace VisualVM plugin just hanging (no errors, etc) on Mac OSX? I'm going to post a bugzilla issue, but wanted to query the public too...

I've tried VisualVM 1.1.1 (standalone distribution) and the new Apple bundled one with the Java Update 4 for 10.5, but the results are the same -- just a freeze when I "start" the tracing. I can use BTrace 1.0 from the command line without any issue. I have a feeling that it is an out of date version of BTrace bundled inside the Plugin, whereas the newer one we fixed is indeed in the CLI version of BTrace.

I'm using the 0.2.1 version of the BTrace VisualVM plugin.

I've submitted bug https://kenai.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=591 to report this failure. Feel free to add any discoveries you Mac users might make to this defect report.

This defect has been incredibly rapidly fixed by Jaroslav Bachorik in version 0.2.2 of the plugin. The only gotcha is that you need to UNINSTALL any previous version of the plugin prior to INSTALLING 0.2.2 for it to work correctly. Nice work Jaroslav!

Details about the -J-D option flag for debugging output inside visualvm is available at:
