I know it was suggested that the BTrace code should be clean up on tracing disconnect... but I have a few ideas.


  • you want to be able to disconnect and have the code cleaned up.
  • you want to be able to enable a jvmstat or an mbean and disconnect. In this case, you want the option of leaving the probe not only in tact, but fully functional. You should have the option of disconnecting the probing process and leave the probe in place. This only makes sense to me if you have an mbean or jvmstat variable.
  • you should be able to reconnect (after a disconnect) to turn a probe off which was left running from option #2 above.
  • perhaps when adding a probe, it would make sense to add a mbean which could be used for option #3, instead of reconnecting through another probe client process
