I've spent the last couple of weeks dabbling with the VisAD library. I think I'm at a point where I can start working the VisAD data units into the CPS project.

Here are the immediate development plans (in no particular order):
  • Flesh out the evolving Wildfire API module with VisAD supported data types for Terrain, Weather, Fuel Model, Fuel Moisture, and Fire Behavior.
  • Implement a Fireground class in the Wildfire API that defines the geographic extents and time-frame for a fire. The Fireground class will contain an aggregate of the aforementioned VisAD Wildfire types.
  • Embellish the CPS NetBeans RCP Project module to expose the Fireground object (via the NetBeans Lookup mechanism) for other modules to use.
  • Add project open and save support for the Wildfire API data types (as VisAD binary files for now).
  • Refactor the UI components out of the Behave module and into the CPS module.
  • Refactor the surface fire related objects out of the Behave module and into the new Wildfire API, leaving just the original Rothermel et al algorithms in the Behave module.

I'll detail the evolving data schema in a forthcoming forum message. Meanwhile, back to NetBeans RCP programming.
