The Campbell Prediction System (CPS) beta version 1.0 is available for download. This version is built on the NetBeans 6.8 rich client platform.

This beta release includes the following features:
  • Visual display of the CPS "alignment of forces" concept via compass charts for solar, wind, and slope vectors
  • Visual display of Max Spread Direction and Flame Length
  • Behave Inputs coupled to diurnal air temperature and humidity
  • Behave Inputs coupled to the Standard 40 or Original 13 fuel models
  • Behave Inputs are coupled to the WorldWind Terrain Viewer
  • Behave Outputs coupled to Fire Behavior Haul Chart
  • Behave Outputs coupled to Fuel Flammability Charts
  • Update Center
  • Option Panels (partially completed)
  • Help Text for all Fuel Models

The zip can be downloaded from the CPS project downloads section: CPS Application v1.0 for either Mac or PC.

Installation instructions:
  • I have yet to create an installation program, so to install the application, simply unzip the download to a location of your choice. The application will run from this location.

Run instructions:
  • To launch the app on the PC, you run the bin/cps.exe file.
  • For Mac, simply unzip and launch the cps.app.
  • For Linux, run the bin/cps script.

Plans for the immediate future: Add help and tutorial text. Note as new features come online, the auto-update feature will download the latest plugins.

Comments, questions and feedback are welcomed in this forum,

I'm working on a Windows installer (versus zip file distribution) using IZPack (http://izpack.org). Results are very promising. Some fine tuning is required before posting in the downloads section.

I created a Windows setup for the Campbell Prediction System v1.0. It is available in the downloads section. The setup.exe will create a shortcut for the application and it includes an uninstaller.
