OpenCTI stands for Open Community Translation Interface. The main goal of the project is enabling community members to participate on the localization of various open-source products. The development team is formed by three students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the Charles University in Prague under the lead of Sun Microsystems' globalization center in Prague. We hope, that OpenCTI will provide an improved, open-source, community maintained replacement for the current CTI web application, which is used for translating OpenSolaris and other open-source Sun projects. In order to translate projects you will have to register yourself as a new OpenCTI user and log in. ==Registration== To create an OpenCTI account open log in form using link labeled 'Log In' located on right side of header. When log in form appears click on 'Register' button in order to open registration tab. Now you have to fill in all fields of registration form. A ID stands for agreement ID. This parameter is ment to be used by OpenCTI operator to identify certified users. If you don't have one, go with 0. Please provide valid e-mail address or we will not be able to restore your password in case you forget it. Select projects you will want to translate and languages you know. You have to agree to the license terms. Now you proceed by clicking on the Register button. With your account created you can click again on 'Log In' link and log in the OpenCTI system. ==Log in and out== This step suppose that you already have your OpenCTI account created. If not go back to the Registration section of the help. Use the top right-hand link labeled 'Log In'. Fill in the form with your username and password and click on the 'Log In' button. Now on you are logged in to the OpenCTI and able to translate. ==Password retrieval== This step suppose that you already have your OpenCTI account created. If not go back to the Registration section of the help. In case you have forgotten your password, click on the 'Log In' link and than on the question mark by 'Password' label on the log in dialog. Password reset dialog will pop up. Fill in your username, click on 'Ok' button and e-mail with newly generated password will be sent at e-mail address you provided during registration process. ==User settings== You need to be logged in to change your account settings. After logging in you will see you username as a link in right-hand area of header. Click on it and tab with user preferences will be opened. The user preferences form will be pre-filled with your current settings. Change what you want and click on 'Update' button to save those changes. =Translating projects= You don't need to be logged in to browse through projects but you need to be logged in in order to translate segments and save any changes you will make. ==Navigation in projects== Each project consists of at least on task and each task consists of various number of segmets. Segments are the editable unit. To get to them you have to choose a task you want to translate and open editor tab. ==Project explorer== Using project explorer (located on the left-hand side) choose a project you want to translate. You can choose it using either workgroups or language explorer tab. They both contain the same projects only sorted by different attributes. By selecting a project, explorer tab with detailed view will open. Using this explorer tab choose the task of your interest. Doing so, will open editor tab displaying segments from selected task. ==Export== When logged in, you will see green arrow icon in Export column of explorer tab while looking at table with tasks. By clicking on the icon you can export selected task. It can happen, that someone else has claimed the task so you will not be able to export it. Try it again later. ==Editor== You have to be logged in to see all buttons and have all rights. Editor contains listed segments of one task. Using combo-box labeled 'Show' you set which type of segments you want to see(non-leveraged represents segments that weren't automatically translated). Using button labeled 'Save All' you save any changes you made to segments. Do not forget to do this before closing editor tab, leaving application or going to another page. Button 'Save and Next' will save all changes and move you to next page if exists. Using button labeled 'Undo' you undo all changes you made since last saving. To edit segment simply click into area of target cell. The cell will become editable. When done editing leave the cell by clicking somewhere else. Buttons Next and Prev will move you amongst pages. When you reach the end / begining of a task you will be relocated to next / prev task if such exists. Shortcuts: Ctrl + i : inserts fuzzy match from first row of fuzzy match table into segment translation at position where cursor is Ctrl + r : replace segment translation with fuzzy match Ctrl + Alt + i : inserts source text at cursor position (doesn't work in Internet Explorer) Ctrl + Alt + r : replace segment translation with source text (doesn't work in Internet Explorer) Ctrl + n : moves to next page / task (doesn't work in Chrome) Ctrl + z : revert changes made on selected segment translation Ctrl + y : redo changes made on selected segment which were reverted using Ctrl + z Ctrl + s : saves all translations on current page Ctrl +u : move to next blank segment ==Tools== Toolbox is expandable pane located on right-hand side or on the bottom of the application. You can open it by clicking on small arrow shaped icon and using splitter you can change its size or even using the double-arrow icon (located next to collapsing icon) change its orientation and position. Toolbox contains several tabs. Each tabs content corresponds to currently selected segment in editor tab. So if no segment was selected the toolbox tabs will be blank. ===Vocabulary tab=== Vocabulary tab contains terminology database and fuzzy matches(translation memory) related to selected segment. It may be blank if no matches were found. By clicking on some target cell in vocabulary tab, its content will be copied to the selected segments target cell. ===Comments tab=== Comments tab contains comments inserted by users of openCTI. Therefore it may be blank if no comment was submited so far. You can add one by using the 'Add comment' button. ===History tab=== History tab contains grid reflecting segment translation history. It is read-only, you cannot interact with it in any way. ==Search== Another way of finding specific segments is to use search utility. Type in the search input located in project explorer string you want to search for and click on magnifying glass icon. New tab with search results will open. It may take some time till the searching is completed. After results are displayed you can start editing them directly. The table is simillar to the editors one. It only has some extra info columns.
