I followed the instructions on the wiki and even updated my ide to the one suggested. However after putting the files in the eclipse directories and restart my eclipse, even with a clean nothing happens. Any suggestions? Update: I followed the same instructions on parallels and everything worked fine. This still doesn't help me out on the mac version though. I checked the logs and don't see any problems mentioning javafx. I'm running leopard, jdk 1.6, just downloaded the lastest version of ganymede today. |

| The version which is currently available requires Java 1.6. Please check if the IDE really uses it. I'm going to post updated versions as soon as I find some time to remove all references to 1.6. |

I found this post regarding Eclipse and Java 6 on the Mac http://codefork.com/blog/index.php/2008/05/09/eclipse-and-jdk-160_05-on-mac-os/, in which the author states:
Eclipse itself needs to run on 1.5. There’s a great blog post, “Running Eclipse on MacBooks with Java 6?, written by one “rkischuk,” that explains why: 1.6 doesn’t support 32-bit SWT-Cocoa bindings, so Eclipse will bomb.
A version of the plugin that doesn't have 1.6 dependencies would be very appreciated. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. Steve |

| This week we have removed all Java6 code from the source code and it is possible to compile it with Java5+. |

I think I may have stumbled onto an answer for this issue. I had the same problem getting the plugin to work on the Mac (Leopard + Ganymede), even after reinstalling Eclipse EE from scratch -- pretty frustrating. Somewhere in the various threads on this problem, someone mentioned that it requires the EE flavor of Eclipse... which made me think I might be missing some plugins somehow. Go to Help -> Software Updates, choose the Available Software tab, and under the Ganymede heading choose "Enabling Features". I just selected that whole section, but someone with more intimate knowledge of the plugin may know how to narrow down the plugins that are actually required. After installing those and restarting Eclipse, the JavaFX plugin appears to be working -- I can now add the JavaFX nature to projects, see the Snippets panel, etc. Hope this helps. Keith |
