http://kenai.com/projects/help/pages/IMChat mentions: "We currently have an issue with mixed case in a user name used to connect to the chat room. We are working on a fix right now. Sorry for the inconvenience."

Is this why I can't log in to chat with my igor_minar account, but when using another account - igorminar - everything works fine?

thanks, Igor

and it seems that even when I log in with the working account with adium and try to access my chatroom I get 404: Remote Server Not Found error.

I'm able to connect to the chatroom from netbeans (but only as igorminar, not as igor_minar).

No worries. Bugs happen, or worse it might be a user error :)

I just want to get it sorted out.

I'm also having problems with the chat feature (project pulptunes).
When the popup comes up, even if I'm already logged into Kenai it asks for my password. And when I enter it I get an alert "Login failure: not-authorized".

Thanks in advance,
Alejandro

Alejandro,

Did you change your Kenai.com password recently? If so, try logging in with your previous password. We are still having problems synchronizing credentials between our web app and the IM server.

I have the same problem now. Both from within this website the alert "Login failure: not-authorized" and from within Netbeans saying chatroom not responding / Cannot connect to xmpp server. Is this something I do wrong?

Thanks,
Matthijs

Hello,

Sorry to hear your having issue. Can you give a few more details please? What OS are you on? what browser and version are you using when the chat client doesn't work in the browser? What version of NB are you working with?

What project is this in as well?

Thanks

An account was never created for you in the IM. Can you try logging out of kena.com and then logging in and launching the chat. You will have to provide the chat client the same password as your kenai login as well.

I've had this account for a while now and I honestly can't remember if I've ever changed the password. I've tried logging out and in many times, and no cigar Frown

I just created an account today and am also unable to log into the chat window.

When I enter my password into the chat window I get the "Login failure: not-authorized" error message. If I try it through NetBeans it says "chatroom not responding".

A friend (sgreig) also signed up today and likewise is unable to access the chat.

You should now be able to login to the IM server. You will first need to login to the Kenai.com web site in order to update your IM password.

Any updates on this issue? I'd really like to start using this feature.

Alejandro,

We just deployed a fix tonight that resolves the IM password synchronization problem. Unfortunately, we found an issue with IM account creation. I did create an account for you so you should be good to go. You will first need to login to Kenai.com in order to set your password on the IM server.

Thanks, I can log into chat now. There's a chat room for my project created by default, but I can't figure out how to enable access for other users, that aren't necessarily members of the project. When they click on my project's bubble icon, the chat popup opens up and they can log-in successfully, but the project room doesn't show in the dropdown. Under the Manage Project section, the "launch chat" permission is ticked for all members roles except for Unauthenticated and Unregistered. By the way, those permissions are grayed-out and can't be modified. Am I doing something wrong, or are there still issues with the system?

Thanks.

People must be logged into Kenai before they can join a chat room. We do this for security purposes. There are not anonymous chat users allowed in the room from our UI

I believe they may be able to still connect to your room via a third party client like Adium or Pidgin though

The users must be members on the project before they can access the chat room. The observer role on a project should be sufficient to gain access to the chat. We currently do not allow non-project members to access the chat.

Ok thanks. Might be a feature you could consider for the future though, disabled by default maybe so it doesn't get abused. Cheers.

Hello,
I am admin on project funplatform. When I follow the steps described in http://kenai.com/projects/help/pages/IMChat part 1 and 2 i can not connect to chat room. The message is Login failure: not-authorized
I tried part 3 with Pidgin also and there is no response from server.
I am using Netbeans 6.8 on Windows XP SP3.

Thank you for help,
Dragos

Hi Dragos,

Can you login from the Kenai.com UI?

There are some known random certificate issues with NB right now. The NB team is working to get them taken care of. If you can't connect from the Kenai.com UI as well, we will see if any errors are coming up in the logs that would lead us to some other issue.

Please let us know, and we will help out as best we can.
