If I do a svnadmin dump on my current repo, is there a way I can get that loaded into my kenai repo?

Any SVN experts out there?

It's not really a svn question. It's trivial to do a svn load but you need access to the machine that is hosting the svn repo to do it. This is more a question of bandwidth of kenai admins to do the svnadmin load.

I would suggest that you could automate this so that a project admin could upload his repo file. This would schedule a svnadmin load happen at some future date/time. Then a script would just run periodically and do a svnadmin load on all files in a certain folder.

There is not a way to run a command or script on a machine. The only access currently is through https. Also, have you looked at "svnsync"? It is supposed to replay the history of a current repository into a newly created one.

svnsync seems like it will do the trick. thanks!

Actually, I heard that there may be problems with svnsync. Let me know if you get it to work, though.

I just tried it. It seems to need access to the hooks directory. I didn't think we had access to that directory.

Jesse

If you guys could make the simple script change outlined in that url then we could use svnsync to move projects over. I don't think many want to move svn over and leave history behind. It's either this or provide a way that we can upload a history dump and do a svnadmin load on it.

I'll get back to you on this.

Any word on this? I would like to move forward with importing my svn project but don't want to lose history? Starting to doubt Sun's commitment to this project.

Again, I'm sorry for your troubles, but please do not doubt Sun's commitment to Kenai. It is important to note that we are adding features at a very fast pace while in our **invite only** beta. I'm going to take this conversation off the forums so we can troubleshoot over email.

I'll post the solution back to this forum once we've solved the problem.

Thanks,
Jesse
