Hello all,

This is a great initiative and I am glad to have joined this, but I have encountered some issues..

A. Here's my project's SVN repository[1] named "incubator", I am able to see a neat view of project folders kept there..

[1] Incubator (SVN repos)

Problem is that if you mouse-over each item (folder/file) in the respository, there's no proper URL to access them directly, for instance if I want to see nbproject folder inside PizzaBeans in my SVN repository[1], then can you help me navigate to it directly..

Although its the easiest of examples, still what can you suggest?

B. Also, when I create a new project (with SVN repos) at java.net, I get tags, branches, trunk folders by default, I couldn't find similar setup here.. What do you think?

Thanks,
Varun

Hi Varun,

The first part of your issue is a limitation of the widget we are using for displaying the source code tree. It's one of a few things that we really don't like ourselves, and is why we are working to replace that widget with something else down the road.

For now, you can browse directly to the source code via links like this:
https://kenai.com/svn/nbrcp-kolektiv~incubator/PizzaBeans/nbproject/

The root of your Repo would be here:
https://kenai.com/svn/nbrcp-kolektiv~incubator

As for setting default folders up for you. We've taken the approach of starting everything out as simple as possible. This allows people to have more control over how they want to setup their individual repositories. Remember, you get 5 repositories, so it's not always the case that you have to create separate folders now. You could have a completely different Repo for your Trunk and another for your historical releases or branches. All with different permission schemes setup.

Hope these answers help you out.

Hi Team,

I am asking here because my question is about tags and branches, about you second answer let see if ai understand what you mean, you are telling that i must create a new project called https://kenai.com/svn/jquery-ui-taglib~tags and another called ...~branches , now i have this project https://kenai.com/svn/jquery-ui-taglib~subversion, please let me know if this is correct or if i miss understand something.

Thanks and regards,

Hi Sergio,

Subversion allows you to set tags and branches. That isn't a problem. The original issue that we were working with Varun on was about having different permission levels on a branch or tag.

You would set the tags or branches using the Subversion client of your choice.

If you need to have different permissions on the content of a branch, then the rest of the repository, you would need to put that data into a different repository. We do not have permission controls at a branch level.

Hope that helps.

Your reply to the second question sounds great.. I am looking forward to see your team would come up with a better solution for the first issue..

Thanks for the answers!
