Hi, I am aware of the fact that recently NB.org migration took place by making use of kenai source code (in some way). Any possibilities of checking out Kenai's source code to create one's own website with customizations, etc? Thanks, Varun |

Hi Varun, The Netbeans.org domain is running on the Kenai.com infrastructure. Project Kenai remains a service, and not available as source code. It's a very complex architecture with many levels of hardware involved. It wouldn't be something that could just be installed easily in a persons own environment. We may get to that point at some time in the future, but it's not there today. You can however, do a lot of things with the Kenai API that would allow you to run your own website and yet use the Kenai services in the background. We have a San Francisco State University project already doing that with a site completely hosted on their servers, but all login, forums, source code, chat, etc. are delivered using the Kenai API's. You can see some of the things done with jQuery and the Kenai API at JB's World or on the News page of the Emxsys project. Hope that helps, --jb The Project Kenai Team |
