Hi,

I am working on the project Jnag, a project which is designed to be implemented for multiples platforms (Jse, Red Dwarf a.k.a. Project Darkstar, C++, Objective-C, Flash, etc ...).

I wish I could create a forum for each of the components of the project, unfortunatly for a reason that I ignore there seems to be a '5' limit on the number of sections that my forum can have.

So my question is simply ... @#$^@$% ?! [self-censured]

I wish to have more liberty while I am using Kenai.

Regards,
Vincent

Hi Vincent,

Asking was the right thing to do. Smile You now have 10 forums possible. Ask again if that is not enough. But be reasonable at the same time.

Thanks for using Project Kenai!

Wow, so fast Smile

In fact, I don't need the additional forum section right away, I was asking now in order to get the limitation changed/removed on time.

I don't know if it is a technical problem for kenai if users create too many forum sections. If not, then I just don't understand why there was a limit at all.

However, if there are some reasons to limit the forum's sections, then:
- 5 by default is a little low, please considere 10.
- It is not clear what to do when the limit is reached, most users won't bother ask and will just assume that there is no way to get more (and will eventually misjudge Kenai and move to another forge).
- It will be time consuming for the Kenai staff to adjust those limits by hand and time consuming for the user who have to ask in the forum (and it will be a kind of forum pollution too). It could be a good idea to display a button to request more forum sections once the user reach the limit.

My last remark also apply for the number of projects (currently limited to 5), a button to ask more would be very useful. Some users will really create more than 5 useful projects and will maintain them, just be ready for them.

Thanks for your insight and suggestions Vincent. Definitely appreciated.

Believe it or not, with over 8000 projects, this is the first request I've had to increase the number of Forums. Smile

The defaults are put in place so that we have a better way of maintaining resource growth, and really for no other reason.

The project limit is something that we increase more often, especially for Mercurial users as they tend to want more individual repositories instead of using subdirectories in the main repos.

Keep the ideas and comments coming. They do help make things better for everyone else as well.
