Now project get descriptive title, but some of administrators forget to mention project name in it - property that let's you refer easily to a project. As it is now some projects seem to not a have a name, not have a thought entry point or a mental face and I dare to say this is because of Kenai's design. Is this intentional?

Yes, this is by design.

Project Kenai is a place for developers and project owners to do what they want with their projects. We strongly feel that it is not the administrations place to impose rules on project owners about what they do with their own projects. At least within limits.

I know exactly what you are talking about, and I personally agree that not setting a Display Name for your project is not a good thing. It doesn't represent your project very well and it doesn't help the project owner attract other developers to help out with that project.

Ultimately, we will build a mechanism into Project Kenai that will take projects that have show no activity over a period of time, and move them to an Archive state. That will help keep the fresh and active projects in front of everyone while moving the dead projects to a not so obvious location.

If project owners don't want to grow their projects, that is their right. We do not want to try and manage their activity for them.

Hope that explains our feeling on the matter.

I understand and respect Kenai's team decision.

I propose to give project owners a hint that this is good practice to include display name to project title. All help project can get is important for its success.

I think that help with project marketing might be one of the strongest features of Kenai. And I don't talk about forcing best practices, but rather inspiring, encouraging and rewarding.

Thanks for Kenai!

Sounds like a great topic for a screencast. "How to get your project some respect"

I'll pass this along to the outbound marketing guys and see what we can put together real quick.

Thanks for the suggestion!
