kenai.com (domain) may go away, but not the projects hosted on it. The plan is to migrate java.net to kenai framework. So the content and the code of this project is safe. Please continue to contribute and look for more information about Java Card Technology. /anki |

No. Java Card is by itself persistent because it has Non-Volatile memory. The Object state is safe even after power loss. In general no Database support is required for Java Card applications. If your application is too much of data centric and if you really need Database support --- Guess what write your own Database ![]() Please check the specs here http://java.sun.com/javacard/3.0.1/specs.jsp Java Card 3 specs has support for FileSystem, which is optional. If a Card has some huge Flash memory, then this FileSystem API is very handy and one can build database layer on top of it very easily. Officially there is no Database API in JC3. /anki |

For your project do you really have to show the Card??? I think it is perfect to show it on the RI (devkit). I guess you will be submitting the project remotely, don't think it is required to send the card to them. Any how JC2 or JC3 depends on what is your project about. If you are planning to use the latest API (Servlets etc) then you need JC3. About the Cards - JC3 cards not available for sale as of now. May be very soon. For JC2 cards I have no idea about Indian rupees. And not even sure if there is JC vendor in India. You can search in the forum http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=23 for more details. If you are not comfortable to tell about the project send an email to me directly ( <firstname>.<lastname>@sun.com - first is anki last is nelaturu ) , just to see that you really need a card for your project. P.S - I finished my B-Level in 1999 ![]() /anki |

I don't think you need Java Card 3 for this. JC2 is enough for this. I didn't get what exactly you mean by session, but the data stays forever on the card until until it is destroyed. This is what the feature of Java Card called persistence. EEPROM is the one where the data is stored. Yes JC2 allows to update/upgrade the application to configure it for another student. I am sure you will get more responses and ideas if you post your question in the forum http://forums.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=23 and I am sure some one will help you to point out to where to get the cards and readers in India. Try posting it there and see if anyone gives more details on where to get the cards. /anki |
