jCalendarCopy: copy iCal to Sun Calendar Wiki

Welcome to jCalendarCopy.

Please use the Discussion Forum for any questions you have. We will be copying the documentation to this wiki as time permits. Some documentation is available now.

Introduction

The jCalendarCopy application allows you to replace any of your calendars on the SunOne Calendar Servers with a collection of the calendars you maintain with iCal. NOTE: we do mean replace here. Your selected local iCal calendars are used to replace the chosen calendar on the Sun Java System Calendar server.

Past releases include some more tips on how to use the Time Zone conversion feature, as well as the ability to validate the time zone names you provide. jCalendarCopy looks for SunBird Calendar files as well (but this feature is certainly beta quality). If you are using this feature, please let us know, since it is not being maintained.

Releases

The latest release of this application is 1.19, which can be downloaded from Kenai.

I'd like to thank the many jCalendarCopy users who made suggestions, reported bugs, and helped to test this release and previous ones.

Release notes for release #15:

  • Improved error message when fail to connect.
  • Handle login timeout while building upload file.
  • Make all TODOs confidential when uploaded, independent of calendar.
  • Improve handling of custom user calendars so the delete calendar option works as expected.

Release Notes for release #14

  • Optionally replaced the problematic calls to wcap.deletecomponents_by_range and wcap.deleteevents_by_range with a call to wcap.deletecalendar. While this seems extreme, it is much faster, and seems reliable. However its use should be considered experimental and any problems reported. To use it, select the "Delete Calendar on Server" option.
  • Improved the error handling for the wcap.deletecomponents_by_range and wcap.deleteevents_by_range calls.
  • Quote the field separator characters in the preferences file to remove issues with parentheses in calendar names. Backward compatible (it will not break your current preferences).
  • Check for a null preferences file and log to the console if so. This should avoid a stack trace caused when the preferences file is truncated.

Past Release Notes

  • Fixed a problem which caused jCalendarCopy to hang during synchronization when run in non-English locales.
  • Improve timezone conversion, improving performance and reducing the likelihood of accidental changes to text.
  • Timezone validation for Leopard and Tiger.
  • Remove the URL tag for inter-operation with Namefinder
  • Provide an option to delete all the TODO entries in Sun's calendar server. All TODO entries in the selected iCal calendars will be copied to the Sun calendar server in any case.
  • Improved notification: progress dialog now shows when the upload file is being created.
  • Bundle release notes with the application.
  • Mysql
  • Glassfish
  • Jruby
  • Rails
  • Nblogo
