Hi all, here are some suggestions regarding your upcoming initial meeting :

  • What will be the features priorities ? (multiplayer mode, ...)
  • Will you rely upon available open-source content for sprites and other resources ?
  • Is it expected to be a JavaFX product, or a mobile JavaFX product ?

Hi Riduidel,
thanks for these questions, this will help us defining precisely our specifications. I'll try to give you complete answers after our kick-off meeting. But I can give you already some hints:

  • Multiplayer mode will be certainly one of our priority
  • We will try to work with a graphic designer for the gaphic resources.
  • We will use the power of javafx to develop a project that will run in both desktop and mobile environnements.

Multiplayer

There are two forms of it with very different requirements :

  • Real-time multiplayer with shared screen (or fight for atoms) which concept should be dived into
  • Ladder (trackmania style) with community aspects

Obviously, the second one is by far simpler to implement. However, without very good ergonomics, it could be rather frstrating for user

Graphics

There are multiple sources of GPL or Creative Commons sharable resources. I would suggest you to go in this direction, since it can provide you a good starting point

Mobile

Besides framework availability, there are capabilities considerations that could vastly impact done code
