Roadmap
The following items (in alphabetic disorder) are topics discussed in the community about the future features of JXSE. These are currently not attached to any release.
- OSGi Interface - A proper API interface to access JXSE services via OSGi has been in discussion since before 2.6 was released.
- SLF4J - A proper logging framework allowing engineers to plug their favorite logging factories and loggers, like SLF4J, will (most) probably be implemented in a future release.
- Maven Modularization - Currently, the JXSE code examples are implemented as a separate maven project. The Berkeley DB binding code is available under the contribution directory. Both could be integrated via modules in the core projects.
- NAT Traversal - The current status of the discussion is that TCP NAT traversal should be investigated over other transports (UDP...), since JXSE releases heavily on TCP.
- Moving to Java 1.6 - The code base is still compatible with Java 1.5. However, many have expressed a desire to move to 2.6 once for all. Those requesting to stay on Java 1.5 have left the JXTA/JXSE community.
- JXTA Protocol Review - Version 2.0 of the JXTA protocols contains ambiguities and requires clarifications.
