Original Concept Conception: June 2006
Project Start Date: November 2008

Tech Limelight attempts to combine tools and services offered by a variety of websites in order to allow its users to easily find quality information on the products and technologies they are interested in.

Some run of the mill inspired features

  • Digg - News stories sorted by rating
  • Wikipedia - Wikis, including history
  • Blogging - Content feeds, user micro-feeds, story comment systems
  • Twitter - Follow a user to keep up to date with the content he/she is submitting

Other features

  • Limelights
    • Items (news stories, reviews, media, etc.) are no longer submitted to categories, but to Limelights. A Limelight is an area on the website that represents a single product or technology. It is the Limelight that belongs to one or more categories. A Limelight aggregates all of the information streaming in about a particular product or technology and presents it to the user in a logical way.

The key goals kept in mind while developing Tech Limelight were user experience, ease of content moderation, ease of finding quality content.
