For first thanks for nbandroid, its a pleasure to develop android apps using our "native" SDK. I really appreciate your work and I will never want to complain for something that I don't pay and that it works as good as nbandroid. I will have no problem to pay for nbandroid in the future, its a must have for us and we will be glad to support this project. Saied that, is there someone who can explain me why logcat never worked well on nbandroid? Sometimes it attach to adb sometimes not. Now since Netbeans 7 I never seen logcat working. It always says: "Trying to reconnect to the device in 10 seconds". Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks and keep up the good work. |

With me it works fine, the last weeks even pretty stable. Some things you can try: In the "services" tab of netbeans: rightclick on "Android devices" and Choose "restart adb". Manually restarting adb (in console or terminal) killing the adb process and restarting it. Is there an instance of the Dalvik Debugger Monitor (DDMS) running? I have problems with running the logcat plugin in Netbeans and DDMS. |

Same problem here: no logcat output whatsover. Everything else seems to work allright. Debug, emulators appear under the Android devices node at Services tab, screenshots work, deployment, etc. Even the trying to reconnect in 10 seconds messages stop when the emulator connects. This used to work, albeit somewat unstably, whith an older version of the plugin on NB 6.9 and 7.0.1. Any pointers to where error messages might be being logged or something? Thanks in advance. |

Same problem here. I copy my results from this post (http://kenai.com/jira/browse/NBANDROID-134). Running on MacOSX Lion with NB 7.0.1. Log window suddenly writes: "Trying to reconnect to device in 10 seconds". emulator-5554 is running (visible in Services -> Android Devices) but not attached in the log window (red bubble). I tried to restart the adb and my computer. I also tried to reinstall the Android SDK and changed the path in Android Settings, nothing helped. After a while, I installed Eclipse (same system), started the debug mode and voila, Netbeans' LogWindow is now attached to the emulator, but under a different name. Instead of "emulator-5554" its called "$VirtualDeviceName [emulator-5554]". Maybe Netbeans is unable to detect the installed simulators under some circumstances? |

I found a way to reproduce this (back on MacOSX Lion again). Starting the emulator and adb from Netbeans or Android SDK and AVD Manager doesnt work. To bring it back working, I have to do: - close emulator - close Netbeans - adb kill-server - start Eclipse - Run any project in debug mode - start Netbeans, which is now connected to the emulator again. Which Logs do you need, that I can post the output here? |

Yes, a solution would be good. I too found the same issues. In the end I uninstalled NB completely and reinstalled. The stuck with partitioning my usual Java code in NetBeans and my Android code in Eclipse as this is the only thing I use Eclipse for (which isn't perfect either!) I'm on OS X Lion. I would prefer not to use Eclipse, but until this becomes stable, NBAndroid isn't really usable for me at least. As an aside, I used to love developing Android, slating Apple, but now having done some basic development and app launches in both camps, Apple comes out well above Android in everything (except putting on the App Store, that was a challenge). I'm using NB 7.0.1 on Windows 7 and have noticed that following works to get the Logcat up again (in following order): 1. Stop NB and any AVD emulator that may be running. 2. Go to the android SDK folder and start the AVD manager. Start AVD thru the "Start..." button. 3. Make sure that the emulator is up and ready before starting NB again. I can't say how equivalent procedures would work on other platforms but since I've started to follow these steps, it works everytime. |
