Hi!

Is it possible to use the opengl pack in a netbeans platform application?

Welcome Odeamus,

sure why not. Most modules are licensed under the GPLv2 + Classpath Exception.

Hi,

Ok, it wasn't obvious to me how to add module dependencies to the OpenGL Pack's nbms in my RCP app (cps.kenai.com). They weren't showing up in my list of available libraries (Project Properties > Libraries), so I'll share what I discovered:

Prior to installing the OpenGL Pack, I had to go to the Tools > Plugins > Settings page and enable the ''Force install into shared directories'' check box. In doing so, the OpenGL nbm's appeared within the ''extra'' node in the Project Properties > Libraries page. From there I was able to select the JOGL runtime and GlueGen runtime modules.

I'm still learning and making discoveries.

Hi Bruce,
I wrote some time ago a weblog entry about that topic
however netbeans 6.7 and later supports a better way of doing this. Its called "suite chaining". You can simple add the whole netbeans-opengl-pack suite to your suite and check only the modules you need in your platform application.

(another way is via maven, Fabrizio Giudici maintains the jogl/gluegen library wrapper modules as maven artifacts)

hope that helps a bit.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the info. And thanks for this project!!

I'll certainly investigate the "suite chaining" tip. I read your weblog -- everything is starting to make sense now. Smile

Can we update the Wiki's Installation Instructions? Maybe import your weblog entry? I can contribute in areas I've worked in thus far.

Thanks,
-- Bruce
