NetRexx Odds & Ends

NetRexx odds & ends is an umbrella project aimed to host a variety of tools well being implemented in NetRexx well intended to facilitate NetRexx development. At the moment it only hosts the founder's own tools but the project is open to any interested fellow NetRexx developers to host their own software.

There used to be several fine open source NetRexx utilities available on the internet. Unfortunately, most of these're rapidly disappearing nowadays due to lost interest by their authors, shutting down of free hosting services, etc. NetRexx Odds & Ends hosts archived copies of several such tools just in order to keep them available to fellow NetRexx programmers.

NetRexxDE

NetRexxDE stands for "NetRexx Development Environment". It's a mean and lean IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for developing in Mike Colishaw's outstanding NetRexx programming language.

Initially based on previous work by Satguru Srivastava, NetRexxDE is implemented as jEdit plugin so it takes advantage of many of its advanced features.

NrxJDBCPool

The standard Java library (JDK 1.5) does not provide a connection pool manager for JDBC database connections. There are open source connection pool managers like Apache Commons DBCP, c3p0 or Proxool, but these are huge complex packages. Modern JDBC drivers provide implementations of ConnectionPoolDataSource and PooledConnection. This makes it possible to build a much smaller connection pool manager.

Well, here at NetRexx Odds & Ends we cannot agree more!!

NrxJDBCPool is a port (with some significant extensions) of MiniConnectionPoolManager to NetRexx making it straight forward to use managed JDBC services from virtually any RDMS.

These are here just as an effort to keep them available on their internet as their original authors and/or websites are no longer reachable. Some of them are of unknown licensing so no tinkering will be done with them here.
