Accounts and Activation
- only accounts used in the last 18 months are migrated
- accounts with same email address are merged to the most recent used one
- to one-letter accounts and some reserved names "-ooo" is added
- activation emails will be sent to all migrated users
- account access possible beforehand via password recovery
Projects and Roles
The general structure with projects, associated features, members and their roles is similar in a Kenai environment. A list of projects that will be migrated is available for review. Due to a conflict with a reserved name the project "website" will be renamed to "infrastructure". If you run into access / permission problems after the migration feel free to send a message to discuss@ooo-migration.kenai.com
Please refrain from hasty creation/removal of projects/lists/... in the old environment. This could interfere with migration scripts. We can clean up and/or extend the site after the migration.
Mailing Lists
- general behavior is similar
- differences due to the underlying list manager sympa
- subscription address changed to
mailto:sympa@project.openoffice.org?subject=subscribe list
(e.g. mailto:sympa@l10n.openoffice.org?subject=subscribe%20dev)
- website@extensions will be renamed to websites@extensions
- all lists of the website project will be renamed to list@infrastructure
- project leads are moderators by default if no moderators assigned
- list owners are subscribed (there seems to be no way to be owner without subscription?, confirmed?)
- web interface for moderation available (if you like it ;-)
- approval mail from moderator for distribution must come from correct email address
- approved / rejected messages are tagged with address of moderator
- more receptive for auto-replies; no other way than removal of offending subscriber
Webcontent
- static website content continues to reside at http://project.openoffice.org
- it is maintained via SVN (instead of CVS) in a repository named "webcontent" local to your project
- Install a command line SVN client or use TortoiseSVN for Windows
- SVN access via ssh is optional
- customization capabilities are described in a guide for our custom layout
- "feature" content is located at http://openoffice.org/projects/project/
Bugzilla
- new site uses a quite recent version of Bugzilla
- look & feel and workflow is similar to IssueZilla
- classification has been added
- raise problems with permissions at the dev @ QA list or the general migration list (discuss at ooo-migration kenai com).
- named queries have not been migrated
First Steps
After account activation (s. above) it is recommended to review the user profile. Login, go to My Page and visit the "View Public Profile" and "Edit My Profile" link provided at the upper left area of the navigation bar. Additionally there are Bugzilla Preferences to be tweaked.
Satellite Sites
Satellite sites like wiki, user (forums), mercurial (hg) are not directly affected by the migration. In some integration areas tweaks might be needed to adapt to the new main site.
Help
Help about the Project Kenai framework is located at
http://openoffice.org/projects/help/pages/Home or
http://kenai.com/projects/help/pages/Home
Please raise problems at our discussion list for the migration
discuss at ooo-migration.kenai.com
This list is available even when the main site is in read-only status.
Later dev@infrastructure (formerly dev@website) will be a more appropriate place to discuss infrastructure questions covering the new framework and more...
