Observation

Evaluation of the of Site- and Project- Settings features and their Migration has just been started. There is not much information available at the moment.

Kenai has the concept of communities like network.org, odftoolkit, netbeans or openoffice.org and owners for communities can be configured.

UI Themes can be configured on kenai which can override default look&feel and also content.

Migration

Most project and site settings are very specific to kenai or CEE and will not be migrated. There is support for renaming projects during migration in the netbeans migration tools.

Specific Site Settings needed for OOo on Kenai

  • The community used must be set to openoffice.org.
  • The theme used must be set to a new OpenOffice.org kenai theme in junction2/nbproject/private/components.yml
  • There is a global setting to disable the "Create project" button which must be enabled for OOo.
  • There is a global default for the footer text on mailing lists which must be configured.
  • Text and subjects for some automatically send mail is configurable in the Junction Database. The netbeans migration scripts do have a messages.properties file where these are defined and during the migration the new values are stored into the kenai configuration. OOo migration scripts will have to do the same.

Open Questions

  • When creating a new project on kenai an "project has been approved" message is being send to the creator. We need to know how to configure the approval system.
