Hi there!
Concerning choosing colors, I recommend to take a look at "Agave". It's
a program that comes with Ubuntu by default, I believe. Not sure, if
there's a Win Version.
It basically helps You finding the "main colors" for anything You
design. E.g. I used it when designing the picture for oridexa, the
rather simple one with the shield and pen.
I suggest You choose "Group of three" (in german "Dreiergruppe") or
"Group of four" (in german "Vierergruppe") in Agave. This will give You
three resp. four main colors that fit together smoothly, yet having a
big contrast to each other.
They can be used to mark different section of oridexa, e.g. by using
them as background or as font-color.
Agave also let's You find different shapes for one color, so it's really
a nice tool.
By the way: The "shield-image" can be adapted to the colors You choose
easily ;-)
