Current development of the NetBeans <-> FindBugs integration is at
http://sqe.kenai.com/
Regarding fb-contrib: currently these detectors are still bundled, but disabled by default; you have to go into Tools > Options to enable them. If you think this might still be too risky, we could just remove fb-contrib from the distribution.
