A primary design principle for the Sun Cloud API is that it is fully discoverable ... every link you might need is provided to you in a previously retrieved representation. So far this works well for working your way "down" the object tree (starting with the cloud object as the root node), but not for "up". To fix this, the following fields are proposed to be added, each with type "uri":

* On a VM, add a "cluster" field identifying the owning cluster.

* On a VNet, add a "cluster" field identifying the owning cluster.

* On a Cluster, add a "parent" field identifying the parent cluster (this will not exist on the root cluster for a VDC).

* On a Cluster, add a "vdc" field identifying the owning VDC.

* On a PublicAddress, add a "vdc" field identifying the owning VDC.

Can't see any harm in this.

Haven't run across any app scenarios myself in which I need to climb the tree, but I guess it's not that exotic an idea.
