Anicetus provides a specification for application generated telemetry. Telemetry consists of streams of information about the behavior of the application as well as alerts to abnormal conditions. Anicetus provides a language neutral specification as well as an implementation in Java.

Syster is a collection of Unix daemon programs which continuously monitor the operational status of the POSIX subsystems of a machine. Syster also provides utility programs for the collection of monitor data and report generation. Syster is in BETA2 on several hundred Unix machines in an enterprise environment.

This is just a little and simple server monitor. It uses an tray icon for user interaction.(so it needs Java 6) and will periodically check some given URLs if they are still alive. There is also a possibility to check the HTML result of the requested pages by regular expressions. I wrote it some years ago and I thought it might be useful to others.
